Motion by Commissioner Salgado and second by Commissioners Hawk, Salgado, and Price to approve the consent items

6. COMMISSIONER ANNOUNCEMENTS

6a. Commissioner Luellen introduced himself and thanked his fellow mayors for the opportunity to serve on LAFCo. He also welcomed and thanked everyone for being in attendance for today’s meeting.

6b. Commissioner Price let everyone know that she was filling in today for Commissioner Escobar. 

6c. Commissioner Salgado welcomed Commissioners Luellen and Price to today's meeting.

6d. Commissioner Hawk said that he was excited to see some applications for growth in our Valley. 

6e. Commissioner Amparano echoed everything said by the other Commissioners.

7. EXECUTIVE OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS

7a. Executive Officer Tyler Salcido let the Commission know that for the March meeting, we will be discussing the budget for fiscal year 2025-2026.

8. PUBLIC HEARING

8a. EC 1-22 Weiler Annexation at 09:00 a.m.

Executive Officer Tyler Salcido presented a PowerPoint presentation, which may be viewed on the LAFCo website. Angel Hernandez, the Community Development Director for the City of El Centro provided a few more details on the project and answered some questions. 

Motion by Commissioner Hawk and second by Commissioner Luellen to approve the EC 1-22 Weiler Annexation

8b. EC 1-24 Willow Bend Subdivision Annexation at 09:30 a.m.

Executive Officer Tyler Salcido presented a PowerPoint presentation, which may be viewed on the LAFCo website. Angel Hernandez, the Community Development Director for the City of El Centro provided a few more details on the project and answered some questions. Abraham Campos, the Public Works Director for the City of El Centro, also answered some questions that the Commission had. The applicant Martin Coyne also made a few statements. Mr. Brown, a resident of El Centro on W. Horne Road, stated that he and pretty much every house on Horn Road is against this annexation. An email from Ms. Gonzalez, a resident of El Centro on Quail Run Drive, was received after public comment closed and is being included in the public hearing record as an opposition to this annexation.

Motion by Commissioner Hawk and second by Commission Price to approve the EC 1-24 Willow Bend Subdivision Annexation
