Service Area

The City of Brawley is located in the Imperial Valley of Imperial County, California, approximately 13 miles north of Interstate (I-) 8 and the City of El Centro. Regional access to Brawley is provided by State Route (SR-) 86 and SR-111, which extend north from I-8 and pass through the city to connect with I-10 near the City of Coachella in Riverside County. SR-78 is Main Street within the city and extends from San Diego County to connect with I-10 near the City of Blythe in eastern Riverside County. The city and its Sphere of Influence (SOI) are not adjacent to any other cities or areas of urban development, and the nearest such communities are the cities of Westmorland approximately 6 miles to the northwest, Imperial approximately 6 miles to the south, and Calipatria approximately 8 miles to the north. There are residential, commercial, and industrial land uses in the city, as well as public services such as schools, parks, and city facilities. The current city and SOI boundaries consist of approximately 4,902 and 5,943 acres, respectively, for a combined total of approximately 10,845 acres.

Services Provided

The City provides an array of services including flood control, fire protection, emergency medical care, law enforcement, library services, recreation and parks, maintenance of local roadways, wastewater collection, treatment and disposal, water treatment and distribution, and all City Hall services within the incorporated limits. These services will be provided to areas within the SOI after they are annexed. The city already provides water and wastewater treatment to some areas in the SOI.

Service Area

The City of Calexico is located in southern California, 120 miles east of San Diego, and situated directly along the U.S./Mexico International border. The Calexico community is traversed by two major transportation corridors: Highway 98 at an east/west orientation and Highway 111 at a north/south orientation. The Southern Pacific Railroad is also an active transportation corridor that provides for the international transport of goods and passes through the city at a north/south orientation. Calexico’s geographic situation contributes to a unique sphere of influence and service demand from temporary residents, permanent residents, and travelers alike.

The City of Imperial is a predominantly agricultural community situated 13 miles north of the U.S./Mexico border and is located in Imperial County. The city encompasses approximately 5.85 square miles and is adjacent to the northern boundary of the City of El Centro. Service Area

The city of Westmorland is located in northwestern Imperial County in the southeast corner of California. Imperial County is bordered by the north, south, west, and east by Riverside County, the U.5./Mexico International Border, San Diego County, and Arizona's western boundary respectively. Westmorland is located on State Highway 86 and is approximately 30 miles from the U.S./Mexico International Border. The city of Westmorland's sphere of influence extends out in all directions from the city limits, with its furthest boundaries at Bannister Road to the north, 1/2 mile south of Baughman Road to the south, Highway 86 and Dean Road to the east, and Kingsley Road to the west. Westmorland's entire sphere of influence consists of approximately 1,560 gross acres of land. About 272 gross acres are located within the city limits, and 1,288 gross acres are located outside the city limits.
